ABOUT ABOUT

Summer Stage Alumnus Christopher Sapienza returns to the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center for "One Night Only"!

Enjoy an evening of great stories and songs from his one-man show "On My Way Back", which played to rave reviews last summer at Philadelphia's Amaryllis Theatre Company.  You'll also be treated to selections from other Broadway and Cabaret repertoire.

Join Christopher Sapienza as he steps back on the stage where it all began.  An alumnus of the Upper Darby Summer Stage program, Chris returns to the Performing Arts Center with stories and songs from his one-man show ON MY WAY BACK that played last summer at the Amaryllis Theatre Company in Philadelphia, PA.

ON MY WAY BACK is one man's musical journey from Chris' start in theatre to his departure from it all six years ago due to a debilitating spinal condition. This musical jaunt brings together storytelling of his youth, his coming out, the trials and tribulations of relationships as well as his ultimate medical diagnosis and recovery.  With songs by various composers such as Jason Robert Brown, Pete Mills, Menken and Ashman as well as John Bucchino and Summer Stage alum Brian Lowdermilk, Chris takes a cabaret and brings it to the next level of a one-man show.

He has been seen on stages throughout the country in such productions as THE FULL MONTY at Arkansas Rep, MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS at The Human Race Theatre, DINOSAUR THE MUSICAL at the Arden Theatre, CRAZY FOR YOU at the Walnut Street Theatre and toured with DISNEY CRUISE LINE for two years just to name a few.  He has also had guest spots on LAW AND ORDER-SVU and FRINDGE.

Joining Chris on stage is special guest Krissy Fraelich.  Krissy has been a professional actress for over 25 years.  She was last seen as Diana in NEXT TO NORMAL at the Arden Theatre.  She made her Broadway debut in Frank Wildhorn's THE CIVIL WAR and played the Narrator in the First National Tour of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.  Up next, Krissy will be singing with the Ocean City Pops this summer and performing at Bristol Riverside Theatre's Summer Musicale in August.

Several Summer Stage alumni have written, produced and and will perform in the upcoming world premier of "LOST," the parody musical - coming May 24 at UDPAC! Cast members will perform a selection from the new musical. The stage version of the sci-fi TV sensation was written by Summer Stage alumni and current staff members Jared Paxson and Chris Monocao.

The evening takes "cabaret" to the next level, featuring songs by various composers including UD Summer Stage alum Brian Lowdermilk. Other songs performed by Chris are by Jason Robert Brown, Pete Mills, Menken and Ashman as well as John Bucchino.

Backing up the performers are some of the finest musicians in the area, including John Hoey on the drums, also a Summer Stage alum! Other musicians include SaraBeth Taber-Miller on cello, Michael Etkins on Bass and pianist John Grecia.

Part of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Upper Darby Summer Stage, while the rest of the proceeds will go directly towards funding the making of his debut soundtrack CD of his one-man show "On My Way Back"
